Trouble Sleeping? We’re Here to Help
If you’re having trouble falling asleep, staying asleep, or wake up too early and can’t fall back asleep, the sleep clinicians here at Illinois Sleep Medicine can help.
First, know that you’re not alone. According to the American Medical Association (AMA), about one in three Americans struggle with falling or staying asleep that is severe enough to require clinical treatment. Sleep difficulties aren’t just frustrating—they can impact your daily functioning, mood, and productivity at work or school. Left untreated, poor sleep also increases the risk of serious health conditions like heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and stroke.
The good news is that sleep issues like these are highly treatable. The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) now recommends a proven treatment for insomnia called CBT-I, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia. Backed by the latest clinical research, CBT-I has an impressive success rate of over 80%, even for individuals who’ve struggled with sleep for years. That’s twice as effective as sleeping pills, without any of the side effects.
Here at Illinois Sleep Medicine, we specialize in diagnosing and treating patients who struggle with falling or staying asleep. As one of the only clinics in the entire state with clinicians specializing in insomnia, we’re able to stay on the cutting edge of providing you with the latest, most effective treatment for your insomnia.
Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question not answered here? Feel free to call us at (773) 389 3433 or email us at [email protected].
How long does it take to see results?
A large number of our patients begin to see meaningful improvements in their sleep within 2 weeks, even for those who have suffered from insomnia for years.
However, the exact length of time it takes for you to resolve your insomnia will depend on the root causes of your insomnia and how you respond to different types of treatment.
I’ve had insomnia for years - will this still help me?
Yes, we frequently have patients coming in who have struggled with 5+ or 10+ years and who have tried more basic tactics such as sleep hygiene, cutting coffee, reducing screen time at night, or meditating.
Our sleep clinicians are experts in identifying the underlying causes of long-lasting insomnia, and addressing your insomnia at the root cause.
How much will it cost?
If you are paying with insurance or Medicare and have met your deductible, your typical copay will be about ~$25 per 50-minute session with one of our sleep clinicians.
If you have not met your deductible or are unsure, you may call your insurance company to get a cost estimate or email us a picture of the front and back of your insurance card ([email protected]) and we can check for you.
What happens during my treatment sessions?
During your first ~50 minute meeting, your clinician will conduct a comprehensive diagnostic to understand the history of your insomnia and pinpoint potential root causes.
Your clinician will then create a tailored treatment plan for you based on your sleep challenges and goals and walk you through the plan so you understand the type of care you will receive. Your treatment plan is designed to be dynamic, evolving as your clinician monitors your progress and responses to various interventions.
